Energise the body and free any trapped emotions.

Phase 03

Wellness Challenge

This phase will focus on energy flow around the body. We hold trauma and stress in our bodies physically, so gently moving and freeing up these energy channels can greatly impact our physical and emotional health.

Bioenergetics is a field in biochemistry and cell biology that concerns energy flow through living systems. Energy flows around the body. Suppressed emotions, unhappiness, and anger can block energy-flow and cause physical problems. Freeing up these energy channels can have an amazing impact on healing the body and improving mental health.

Yoga, tai chi and quigong are excellent ways to free up energy flow within the body. In yogic teachings this energy flow is concentrated into 7 energy centres called chakras. Each chakra has a corresponding number, name, colour, specific location along the spine and corresponds to particular emotions.

This week we will take part in a 7 day chakra yoga challenge created by Allie 'The journey Junkie'. Each day will focus on opening up the energy flow of one chakra, starting at the base of the spine through to the crown of the head. If you want a more gentle practice I highly recommend doing a tai chi or qigong class instead.

You can also do a 25 min session to cleanse all 7 chakras which is very invigorating.

Meal plan and shopping.

For our last week we will continue investing in our gut health. Adding fermented miso and duck bone broth to the menu. Feel free to experiment by adding other probiotic foods to your meals.

Day 36

The root chakra, represents our foundation. On the human body, it sits at the base of the spine and gives us the feeling of being grounded.

When the root chakra is open, we feel confident in our ability to withstand challenges and stand on our own two feet.

When it's blocked, we feel threatened and insecure. We worry about money, possessions and that our basic needs might not be met, creating feelings of lack and separation.

Do the yoga challenge linked above or a more gentle cleansing practice linked below.

Day 37

The sacral chakra governs creativity and sexual energy. It helps inform how we relate to our own emotions and the emotions of others.

When it is open we feel energised, excited and confident

When it is blocked we can feel a lack of control in our lives which can manifest as anxiety. This can lead to obsessive thoughts, cravings and addictions.

Do the yoga challenge linked above or a more gentle cleansing practice linked below.

Day 38

The solar plexus chakra relates to feelings about power and control.

When it is open we are free to express our true selves, and don’t fear the control of others.

If your solar plexus chakra is blocked we might feel overwhelming amounts of shame and self-doubt. We will feel others are trying to overpower and control us.

Do the yoga challenge linked above or a more gentle cleansing practice linked below.

Day 39

The heart chakra can influence our ability to give and receive love, from others and ourselves.

If someone's heart is open, they can experience deep compassion and empathy.

Someone with a blocked heart chakra will have difficulty fully opening up to the people in their life. They will have trouble with forgiveness.

Do the yoga challenge linked above or a more gentle cleansing practice linked below.

Day 40

The throat chakra controls our ability to communicate our authentic selves.

When our throat chakra is open we can express ourselves with ease.

When it’s blocked we have trouble expressing verbally how we truly feel or communicating at all.

Do the yoga challenge linked above or a more gentle cleansing practice linked below.

Day 41

The third-eye chakra, controls our ability to see the big picture and connect to our intuition.

When we open the third eye chakra we trust our instincts and use both feelings and logic to make life decisions. We are also very imaginative.

When the third eye is blocked we doubt our intuition and feel indecisive.

Do the yoga challenge linked above or a more gentle cleansing practice linked below.

Day 42

The crown chakra represents our ability to be fully connected spiritually.

When we fully open our crown chakra we are able to access a higher consciousness and oneness with the universe.

With a blocked crown chakra we worry about not living our true purpose, or knowing what that is. We can be overly concerned with material things.

Do the yoga challenge linked above or a more gentle cleansing practice linked below.

What’s next?

First celebrate 6+ weeks of amazing effort and dedication!

I hope this experience has given you the tools to keep moving forward in the right direction and improving your health and wellbeing week by week.

I shift in and out of each of these 3 phases as I feel it's right. If i've been very stressed and start to feel inflammation flaring up, I shift into keto (phase 2) for a while till it's under control again. Then I'll return to a more paleo way of eating (phase 1) and add gut health recipes here and there (phase 3).

If you decide to reintroduce some foods we've cut out, you will have been without them long enough to see how your body responds to them and then you can decide if it's worth eating them or not. I know for myself sugar and wheat are too high risk so I will continue to avoid them. I do believe I will be able to eat them again in the future in moderation, once my body has completely healed and I regain tolerance.

When I try bread again, I will try sourdough from an artisan baker as it's naturally fermented and made from quality ingredients. But I am very weary of wheat as it's come up again and again in my research as being responsible for a whole host of intestinal issues that lead to inflammation and disease.

It would mean the world to me if you would be kind enough to give me your honest feedback on the 6 week program so I can make improvements and help more people.

Time to measure and see how things have gone this week.
